Who are the CHUMS?
Chums, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for women to meet in friendship and fun, to encourage a spirit of helpfulness, and to use their many talents in service to the community.
What We Do?
The organization promotes civic, cultural, educational, and social improvement. An ancillary focus of the organization is to enrich the lives of children by helping them to develop to their fullest intellectual, moral, emotional, physical, and social potential.
Our National Theme is "Listen to the children... enrich their lives."
Over the years, our organization has remained committed to strengthening the social, civic, and cultural fabric of our communities. Guided by our national theme, "Listen to the children... enrich their lives" each Chums chapter identifies and addresses the unique needs of its local area. Through dedicated volunteer efforts, fundraising initiatives, and scholarships, we work together to create meaningful and lasting impact. We’re a community of caring, committed people who believe every child deserves support, opportunity, and a bright future. Through our programs, events, and outreach, we work together to make a real difference—one child at a time.
Founder's Day
Founders Day is an annual observance celebrated in February to commemorate the founding of our organization in 1946 and it's mission to bring women together for community service and mutual support. All local chapters participate in this event.
Conclave
The Annual Conclave is held the third weekend in October. During the conclave the board of directors, which consists of national officers and chapter presidents, hold their annual meeting at which national officers are elected every two years.
The Yellow Tea Rose
Chums, Inc. adopted the yellow tea rose as its official flower; for Chums the yellow symbolizes "brightness" and the green symbolizes "awakening."
Our Logo
"A good archer is not known by his arrow but by his aim" is our motto. The official logo captures both of these concepts and links them with the handshake symbol of fellowship in a shield surrounded by a sunburst.
